TWO-THIRDS of UK business leaders are planning to recruit public relations staff or hire agencies for public relations support in the next three months, according to new research from the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR).
The ‘CIPR Business Leaders Survey’ – delivered by global market research agency, 3Gem – surveyed 300 C-suite level managers and directors on their PR functions and their future needs for PR services.
The report – exclusive to CIPR members – will be repeated twice a year and will track business confidence, plans to recruit, the importance placed on the reputation of their businesses, training needs, and more. The December 2021 research found nearly half of respondents rated reputational risk as one of their three top risks for the business.
CIPR president, Mandy Pearse (pictured), said, “This survey shows the importance senior leaders place on public relations and backs up the findings of our PR in a Pandemic report. The last 18 months have shown the value PR delivers for businesses and it is now for practitioners to build on that at a strategic level. We will be monitoring progress on this through future surveys. Many thanks for 3Gem for partnering with us on this project.”
Mehmet Xhambazi, group managing director, 3GEM, said, “It was insightful to work alongside the CIPR on this piece of research and really encouraging to see that business leaders are planning to recruit public relations staff or hire agencies for public relations support over the coming months. We look forward to hopefully seeing this trend continuing over future reports.”
